Why the first lines matter most
Each platform has a hard character limit and a much shorter visible preview. On Instagram and LinkedIn, only the first one or two lines show before “more” or “see more”, so the hook has to land there.
Limits also differ: X counts every link as 23 characters, Threads allows 500 characters, and Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags but displays only the start of the caption. Preview cut-offs vary by device and are approximate.
