How hreflang works
Hreflang tells Google which version of a page to show to people in a given language or country, for example Arabic for the UAE and English for the UK. Codes combine an ISO 639-1 language code with an optional ISO 3166-1 region code, such as ar-AE or en-GB. A region on its own is not valid.
Every version must list every other version and itself, and the links must be reciprocal, or Google may ignore them. Use absolute URLs and make sure each URL returns a 200 status and is canonical to itself.
